About Lifeway: Founded in 1965, Lifeway Baptist Church is a Southern Baptist church located in the heart of Vista California. Our congregation is relatively small, but we are a family who loves God and one another. We are dedicated to serving the Lord and loving our neighbors including through outreach, giving, and missions. We’re blessed to have people of all ages connecting with each other, and we cherish the diversity within our church family. Lifeway is congregation led with a constitution centered around the role of the members and the leadership team under guidance of the Senior Pastor.

Ministry Summary: Under the leadership of the Holy Spirit, the Senior Pastor is to lead the church in the fulfillment of the Great Commission. He is to provide ministry guidance which results in the spiritual maturation of the congregation and the church.

Qualifications: 

• The Senior Pastor must meet the minimal requirements of an Overseer as defined in 1 Timothy 3:1–7, Titus 1:5–9, 1 Peter 5:1–4.

• Bachelor’s degree and/or Seminary completion preferred.

• Prior ministry experience required (2+ years experience as a pastor and/or 6–10 years other ministry experience, such as church staff).

• Candidates should have sound Biblical doctrine in accordance with the Southern Baptist Convention.

General Duties and Responsibilities:

• The Senior Pastor is the primary preacher at all regular worship services. The Senior Pastor is also responsible for conducting funeral services and wedding ceremonies.

• The Senior Pastor is the Spiritual leader of the congregation and shepherd of the church responsible for:

  • Counseling individuals with personal or spiritual problems,

  • Visiting members in the hospital and at nursing homes,

  • Visiting members or prospective members at home or over a meal

• The Senior Pastor is a teacher preparing Biblically sound sermons, hosting Bible studies, and imparting Biblical knowledge to the congregation.

• The Senior Pastor has a heart for evangelism with a desire to fulfill the Great Commission.

• The Senior Pastor is an administrator responsible for tasks related to the church office, finances, facility, and leadership.

• The Senior Pastor spends adequate time in the church office to meet daily demands and is available to the staff and church members.
